Season 4[]

DGUnicorn417

The "unicorn".

Only one unicorn appears in this season. This unicorn however, was not a real one. It was part of the Dark Guardian's abilities: manifesting creatures that would entice people and lure them into a trap for the sole purpose of maintaining the imprisonment of the Earth Fairies.

Dark123

The Dark Guardian's true colors represented in its astral drops.

The "unicorn" would intentionally wonder into Bloom and Musa's field of vision as they search for a missing Flora. Bloom is immediately taken by it, noting that she had always wanted to ride a unicorn. Musa, aware that it does not exist, steps back and tells Bloom. This snaps Bloom out of her trance but it was too late, the "unicorn" transforms into the Dark Guardian and captures the two of them.

The "unicorn" appears again when the Dark Guardian realizes the Winx escaped their cell. It splits into the four astral drops that had lured the Winx the first time. The "unicorn" and the "centaur" attack the shield protecting Roxy, Bloom, Tecna, and Musa. The "unicorn" chases after Tecna and is then trapped in both her and Stella's spells. It is later destroyed by Stella.

Trivia[]

  • The unicorn is a legendary animal that has been described since antiquity as a beast with a large, pointed, spiraling horn projecting from its forehead. In European folklore, the unicorn is often depicted as a white horse-like or goat-like animal with a long horn and cloven hooves (sometimes a goat's beard).
    • In the encyclopedias its horn was said to have the power to render poisoned water potable and to heal sickness. In medieval and Renaissance times, the tusk of the narwhal was sometimes sold as a unicorn horn.
      • This is shown when Elas tries to heal Mei Li with his horn.
      • Elas is able to remove the Wild Magic from the river as well by using his horn.
