The Disappearance of Alfea is the one-hundred and fifty-first issue of the Winx Club Comic Series.

Synopsis[]

What was meant to be another usual school day at Alfea turns into disaster when the school is enshrouded within a mysterious dome. To make matters worse, the school has utterly vanished by the time the Winx return from a day out in the city. With the only thing left being a mysterious purple stone, the Winx seek out the help of some allies in one of the unlikeliest of places, and learn that the school had been stolen by a professor who previously taught there.

Plot[]

I151-1

Alfea is gone!

At Alfea an ominous dark energy encapsulates the magical barrier around the school then a sleeping spell is spread amongst the occupants. Before succumbing to the sleeping spell, Faragonda alerts Bloom who is in Gardenia with her friends during one of Stella's tiring shopping sprees.

I151-AFake

Mifty tells Stella the supposed "magical weapon" that caused Alfea's disappearance is fake.

The Winx hurry back to their school only to find it gone. They ponder on what could have happened and Tecna detects traces of dark magical energy on her tablet. Stella then spots something: a dangerous magical weapon called a sunset crystal. Musa wonders if this was the reason for their school's disappearance but Bloom tells her that it cannot do that. Tecna then recalls that only witches of Cloud Tower can utilize this crystal. Musa does not understand why they would attack their school. Flora also finds this strange because of the peaceful truce had been enacted between the two schools for awhile now. But they still need answers and so, the Winx head to Cloud Tower.

I151-2

Griffin deciphers the traces of dark energy and locates Medea current location.

They approach apprentice witches Mifty and Linsay who refuses to answer to their request because they had no involvement and the "proof" that Winx were holding is actually a poor imitation. The fairies do not believe them and with some insults thrown between Stella and Mifty with the latter winning (much to Musa's amusement), Griffin appears and reaffirms that her students are indeed telling the truth. The headmistress then asks for an explanation from the girls and Flora tells her that Alfea had disappeared. Bloom shows her the sunset crystal as well. This leads Mifty and Linsay to restate that they had nothing to with the disappearance and that someone had planted the crystal to pin the blame onto Cloud Tower. Griffin then tells them that this action makes the culprit an enemy to Cloud Tower as well, a fact the two young witches begrudgingly agree on.

I151-3

Flora entangles Medea so that the Winx can transform and enter the magical sphere.

Griffin then personally helps the Winx out. Tecna shows her the dark energy that was detected. The energy is incredibly powerful and difficult to analyze but to Griffin, it feels familiar. She then tells the girls about the sorceress Medea whose named had been erased from Alfea's records. Medea was once a professor at Alfea who ran her classes with an iron fist and struck fear in her students that outranked even Griselda's. Faragonda however, turned a blind eye because she believed that Medea was an excellent teacher and friend. As it turned out, Medea was plotting against Faragonda. She wanted to usurp Alfea from her and create an army of fairies under her rule. Upon discovering her plans, Faragonda fires Medea and for that, the sorceress wanted revenge.

Light of Solaria -151

Alfea being released from Medea's prison.

Medea's whereabouts are unknown but Griffin analyzes the dark energy traces and directs them to the Forest of Silence. The Winx get there and are greeted by Medea who was patiently waiting for their arrival; she shows them the sphere she had captured Alfea in. She cackles evilly, grinning ear to ear, happy that she had succeed in her revenge. As she is connected to the sphere, she warns the girls that if they defeat her, the sphere and Alfea will disappear alongside her. Nonetheless, the Winx are determined to save their school and hearing that causes Medea to strike Stella and Aisha. Flora distracts the sorceress with her vines, entangling Medea and giving the Winx a chance to transform into their Tynix and teleport into the magical sphere.

Medea-I151-3

The result of Medea's revenge plans.

They find a drowsy Faragonda, a sleeping Griselda and student in the hallway. Faragonda warns the girls that they must hurry otherwise the sleeping spell will overcome them. Tecna is starting to feel it so the girls use a convergence spell to dispel the darkness surrounding Alfea, freeing it from its prison.

Faragonda thanks the Winx for saving them. Stella responds that it was nothing and that there is still enough time left to finish shopping. As for Medea, she is trapped in her own magical sphere.

Trivia[]

  • This is one of the times the peace treaty between Alfea and Cloud Tower and it was Flora who mentions it.
    • It is unknown precisely when it was established but it could be sometime between the end of Season 1 and Season 2. This is affirmed in season 3, when Flora wondered why the witches were attacking them because "[she] thought [they] were all friends now."[1]
