The Black Comet is the fifty-third issue of the Winx Club Comic Series.
Synopsis[]
A planet known as Ephirius is facing impending doom as the legendary Black Comet quickly approaches while on a collision-course with it. Desperate to look for a way to somehow redirect or destroy the comet, the people of Ephirius seek help from Titania, Tecna's homeworld, and luckily gain a helping hand due to the king's approval. Wishing to help her father's noble efforts, Tecna volunteers to aid in the collaboration between the two realms to save Ephirius, however, it will prove to be much more than she and the Winx bargain for, as a tyrannical dictator known as Arzenius plots to hinder their efforts.
Plot[]
The Black Comet's path is headed directly to Ephirius!
On the planet Ephirius, aboard a pirate ship supported by an airship. The captain sends orders to one of his sailors, but suddenly it starts raining meteors that tear the sails of the ship and the airship, so the entire crew lands on land with parachutes. At the same time, from the observatory they also see the meteor shower and the astronomer cannot believe it, he even asks if the telescope is properly oriented. Suddenly, the astronomer exclaims that the Black Comet, so called because it does not reflect light and is difficult to detect, is approaching and will collide with them. Elsewhere, in Alfea, the Winx are watching the news of the impending meteor strike, and the anchorman comments that Ephirius has asked for help from the planet of technology, Titania.
Tecna greets Ephirius' president who urges the Winx to smile to ease the people's concerns.
Tecna comments that this is her father's kingdom, and they justly interview the king. He answers that naturally they will help their friends, because they have a very powerful missile that will cause an explosion that could divert the comet's trajectory to another side. Tecna is happy because there are people who believe that science and technology are useless and this will prove them wrong. Suddenly, a beep sounds and Tecna receives a call on her computer directly from her father. The king explains to her that the inhabitants of Ephirius are terrified, so many are fleeing and abandoning the planet. Tecna replies that she already has the missile to help them, but her father replies that the people do not believe the missile will work, so she needs his help. He asks her to go to the planet, to the delegation carrying the missile, because if she travels there, they will see that it is not as dangerous as it seems. Stella intervenes and jumps into the conversation, asking if the comet is really as dangerous as she says. The king replies that the planet Ephirius is very primitive and that alone they could not, but now they have technology on their side.
Joel approaches Tecna and convinces her to give a tour of the facility and explain how the missile works.
Tecna manages to convince her father to go with her friends and the Specialists to the planet, claiming that it is a good opportunity to analyze the situation together. Tecna asks her father to greet her mother for her and says goodbye. Once the king is no longer listening, Bloom scolds Stella for butting into the conversation and downplaying the collision, but Stella defends herself by pointing out that she did not send the asteroid and that they can take advantage of it as a short vacation. Flora intervenes to reassure Bloom, stating that not only will it be a period of rest, but they will also help save an entire planet. Meanwhile, the Black Comet continues its course through space, getting closer and closer to the planet.
Tecna and Timmy fight about Joel.
The next day, the Winx and the Specialists take off from the Alfea courtyard, while Stella makes fun of the rest of the students because they will have to continue studying. Bloom scolds her but Stella changes the topic and asks Brandon if they will be in the front rows on the day of the missile launch, to which Brandon replies that it is so big that it is not even assembled because they have to carry it in loose pieces. He also adds that the missile's track will be calculated once the missile is built and that there is no other way to do it.
Tecna receives a necklace from Joel and proceeds to wear it to give Timmy a lesson.
An entire troop of ships is assembled with all the cargo necessary to assemble the missile and all the ships land on the planet after passing through a wormhole. Upon arriving at Ephirius, Flora comments on how beautiful nature looks and Tecna takes the opportunity to explain that it is a more primitive planet, that they live off of fishing, agriculture and livestock, which makes Stella sigh in despair. They leave the ships and are greeted by the president, who tells them to all smile for the cameras, so that they give a public image of serenity.
Tecna and Timmy apologize to one another and make up.
After the welcome speech, the Winx rest a little at the hotel where they are going to stay. Tecna comments that the planet has problems due to the revolution, explaining to her friends that a while ago the planet was ruled by a dictator, a certain Arzenius. He adds that the people rebelled against him, but he still has many followers who will do everything possible to restore him to command. Stella intervenes saying that they do not care about dictators or revolutions, that they have come to save the planet. Musa is not convinced, but Tecna assures her that they will return to Magix as heroines. The Black Comet continues to approach.
Timmy gives Tecna the necklace Joel gave her and tells her what it does as her life depends on it.
The next day, the Winx go to the garage where they are assembling the missile, where the Specialists are already helping. Timmy wants to show Tecna some codes that he programmed into the simulation, although a reporter bursts in, wanting to ask Tecna some questions. She agrees and ends up making a brief tour of the entire facility, explaining how the missile works and, in the process, explaining that everything is under control. At the end of the interview, Tecna says goodbye to the young reporter and they agree to meet another time. Timmy is waiting for her, upset that she ignored him, claiming that he has never seen such a presumptuous reporter. He adds that he is jealous and Tecna, angrily, slaps him on the cheek. That same afternoon, Tecna is with the rest of the Winx at her hotel, she feels bad because she hit Timmy. Stella indicates that she did the right thing, but Tecna is not so sure. Bloom tries to calm them both down, but suddenly, the doorbell rings.
Tecna is held captive by Arzenius to use as a way to control her father.
It is the postman, who delivers a package for Tecna. Musa thinks it is a gift from Timmy to forgive him, but when Tecna opens the package, it turns out to be a butterfly-shaped pendant, sent by none other than... Joel! Tecna is surprised because he is the reporter who interviewed her. Bloom says that she should not wear it but Tecna refutes her and decides to wear it to make Timmy jealous. Hours later, at night, the Winx and the Specialists are at a party. Bloom is sad that Tecna and Timmy are not on speaking terms, but Stella says that it's always fun to make up after an argument or fight. Tecna and Timmy are sitting in an armchair, apart. He thinks she should not wear that pendant, but Tecna replies that she wanted him to see that she is upset. Timmy apologizes and in the end they manage to reconcile, going out dancing together. During the night, unknown individuals infiltrate in the garage where the missile is.
Tecna activates the necklace Timmy gave her.
The next morning, Tecna and Musa are waking up when Bloom bursts into the room, warning that someone stole an important component of the missile and requesting a ransom. Musa asks what happened and Bloom replies that she heard that the robbery has been planned by Arzenius' men. All the girls go to the presidential house, where the Specialists already are. Sky tells Tecna that the president asked to see her, so Tecna runs to the office. Once inside, the president explains that the thieves have requested a large amount of money, and also demand to take it to an agreed upon point.
Timmy receives the necklace and will use it to track Tecna's location and Arzenius.
Codatorta is also there and adds that the bandits are afraid that they will be ambushed to catch them, but if she goes, they would not risk hurting her. The president indicates that they are already collecting all the money and that it is very important that he recover the piece, because if not, the missile will not work without it. Tecna leaves the office and meets Sky, whom she asks if he has any idea how they got in. Sky answers that the thieves knew the area and what they had to steal very well, he assumes that Arzenius has many spies. Tecna soon realizes that the spy could be the reporter because he asked her to show her around, but when Sky asks her, she replies that everything is fine.
Sky sends Tecna to a waiting room with the rest of the girls and tells her to wait for his call. Bloom asks her how she feels and Stella thinks they should go too, but Bloom thinks that would make the thieves angry. Tecna says that she can use her magic if things get bad, but Stella still believes it is a very dangerous situation. Sky appears and calls Tecna, an assistant gives the girl a bag with the money and a map with instructions to get to the indicated place. The girls wish her luck and warn her to be careful. Suddenly, Timmy appears, holding Tecna by one arm.
Tecna is rescued and the missing piece of the missile is retrieved.
He hands her the butterfly necklace, Tecna is surprised but Timmy insists that it is very important. Stella wants to know what they are both talking about but Bloom replies that she should give them privacy. Timmy and Tecna say goodbye with a kiss and Tecna rides a motorcycle, leaving. She follows the instructions and arrive at the agreed place, but suddenly, a van bursts in at full speed, a couple of masked bandits come out and force Tecna inside. She tries to use her magic but is blocked by a mage more powerful than her who was also in the vehicle.
At the same time, from the radio tower, they try to find the signal emitted by a transmitter that they hid in the bag, but they do not find any. They assume that the thieves are blocking the signal and that Tecna has been kidnapped. Meanwhile, in a barn on the outskirts, Tecna is brought before Arzenius, who refuses to return the piece because his objective is precisely to let the asteroid destroy the planet and then take control of it. He assures that he will get his way because everything is going as planned, his men canceled the signals from the hidden transmitter and the mercenary magician he hired has neutralized all types of magic.
The missile successfully destroys the comet.
Arzenius adds that he will use Tecna as a hostage to keep the king under control. The man orders Tecna to be imprisoned, sending his nephew to watch her, who is none other than Joel, the same reporter who interviewed her. Tecna is outraged but they lock her in a cell anyway. But they do not know is that the girl releases the brooch, which was programmed to return to the radio tower, where Timmy manages to receive it. He explains while tracking the location that he hid a microchip inside that has recorded everything that has happened, being able to find the place where Tecna is being held. The police captain runs to warn all the officers, while Sky announces that the Specialists will go with them. Bloom adds that the Winx will go from behind to rescue Tecna.
The girls transform into their Enchantix and fly to the abandoned barn, where they see the Specialists' ship and the police officers from above. Suddenly, they are swept away by a great gale summoned by the mercenary magician, but they counterattack with a powerful wind, a spell together, that pushes the magician away. At the same time, Arzenius and Joel try to escape, but are cornered by the Winx. Musa uses sound waves to stun Joel, while Aisha punches Arzenius, without even using her magic. Stella and Bloom free Tecna and Flora takes charge of recovering the missing piece. Then all the joints fly with the piece to place it in the missile, it is fired and manages to break the asteroid into many pieces, which look like shooting stars in the sky. The president of Ephirius thanks Tecna for saving them, although she feels guilty because she let herself be fooled by Joel, although Stella tells her that it is a thing of the past. Timmy gives him the pendant again, but this time it is heart-shaped. Tecna and Timmy hug each other while there is a beautiful sunset in the sky.
