- Dinosaurs were a group of animals who were the dominant forms of terrestrial life on Earth in the prehistoric period known as the Mesozoic Era
- The dinosaur who appeared in A Friend from the Past was modeled on the Tyrannosaurus rex. Both it and the Tyrannosaurus rex were bipedal meat-eating dinosaurs with small arms with only two fingers
- The mother dinosaur and her pup were possibly inspired from the Mother Tyrannosaurus who cared about her young from the Ice Age franchise or from the Tyrannosaurus couple who cared for their pup from the Jurassic Park franchise
