Pepe is a small duckling that belonged to Icy, of whom detests him, disowning him from the moment he was born by trying to abandon when possible.
Appearance[]
Pepe is a small purple duck with dark blue eyes, orange beak and legs. He has darker purple feathers on his chest.
Personality[]
Pepe is clumsy and by nature unbeknownst of the fact that Icy despises it, showing it mostly by encasing Pepe in ice. Stormy had blast him with her lightning bolts, finding the duck "annoying". Despite the cruelty inflicted by the Trix, Pepe is dependent on Icy (as by nature, he views her as his mother) for nurturement (of which he never received) following her to great distances such as Lightrock Monastery. Pepe was eventually forced apart from his owner when Knut took him along with him to Alfea, seeking refuge from the Trix's ruthless power. Pepe had a bashful but short-lived friendship with Kiko during the invasion, before following Icy to the Fortress of Light, where he is never seen again.
Series[]
Season 1[]
Pepe hatches, with the first thing he sees being Icy, who is holding him in her hand.
In "Alfea College for Fairies," he hatches from the egg that Flora cast a spell on. Icy is the first thing Pepe sees when hatched. Believing her to be his mother, Pepe latches onto Icy, calling her "mommy", one of the only words he is been known to have said. She expresses her displeasure by repeatedly screaming "I hate him!", potentially viewing him as a symbol of yet another failure by the hands of the Winx.
In "The Black Mud Swamp," he appears when the Trix return to their dorm. Icy picks him up and throws him across the room. Later in Black Mud Swamp, Icy freezes him in a block of ice.
In "Mission at Cloudtower," he greets a weakened but determined Icy after she cast her spell.
In "Friends in Need," he is seen after following the Trix to Alfea. Angered, Icy freezes him again. He is later seen when the Whip slides into him. He latches onto his head as they both fall through the floor. Pepe then snuggles up to the monster.

In "Bloom's Dark Secret," he is seen walking with the Trix. An annoyed Stormy strikes where he is standing with lightning.
In "The Font of the Dragon Fire," he is seen with the Trix in Magix City. He tries to embrace Icy, but he falls flat on the ground when Icy steps forward. Upon seeing him, he is then frozen once again by Icy.
In "The Fall of Magix," Knut holds him as he cowers in fear, possibly worried for his mother's safety after the battle that takes place between the Trix and Headmistress Griffin.
In "Mission to Domino," he shivers in fear as the creatures of the Army of Darkness congregate. Knut takes Pepe and sets forth to Alfea, seeking refugee. Since as like most ducks in real life, it is possible that Pepe was only content leaving after seeing the Army of Darkness congregate around Icy, thinking his mother is being attacked by them, enabling his natural instinct for survival first.
In "Storming Cloud Tower," Knut plays with him in Alfea's courtyard. Later, he and Kiko are seen running from a Decay Solider.
In "The Ultimate Challenge," he tries to cheer Kiko up by making funny faces. Later, he plays tug of war with Kiko. Soon after, he buries himself into a hole in fear of the approaching army, once again enabling his natural instinct for survival.
In "The Witches' Downfall," he cowers in fear of the approaching army. Soon after, he runs away from the attacking army with Kiko. Later, he follows Icy to the Fortress of Light, since his mother is now safe to follow with again (Ducks are very dependant during the first few days of hatching). Kiko was upset that he left despite their friendship, with Bloom having to explain to him that he wants to stay with his "mommy".
Pepe is never seen again in the original series, nor has there been any details of his whereabouts post Season 1. His last known location is assumed to be the Fortress of Light.

Trivia[]
- Musa's Fairy Pet is also named Pepe.
- Pepe has never appeared or even mentioned in any kind of official media after the release of "The Witches' Downfall ".
- Pepe can talk but the only words he has said are "mommy" and "mama".
- Originally in the Cinélume dub, he is called "'Nero'", which is the Italian word for the color black and the name of a Roman Emperor who was said by some to have been a tyrannical ruler.
- He is later called Pepe in the rest of season one. [1]
- He is also called Nero in other dubs.
- The name reversion in the Cinélume dub may perhaps imply Icy changed his name to something different despite her detesting of him
