Sifelius

Sifelius was a famous composer, who was very talented with great passion until the death of his beloved wife Irenja. The Winx helped him see his wife again and is no longer heartbroken. Sifelius has only appeared in the comic series.

He is an old friend of Solimante, the shop owner of a Bazar in Magix.

Appearance[]

While his age was never stated, it can be assumed that he is around his forties to sixties determined by his appearance and friendship with Solimante.

Sifelius has tan colored hair, with graying streaks that are past shoulder length. He has a crow's nest style, his hair is thick and curls upwards at the ends. When he was young, his hair color was much darker tan color, lacked the graying streaks and was pulled back by a red bow in a low ponytail. He has tan colored eyes and a slightly tan complexion. Before Musa helped him, his hair was unkempt and had stubs.

He has two civilian attires.

Former Civilian[]

Before grooming himself to see his wife once more. He wore an orange and yellow robe which has a rip on the right shoulder, with a white t-shirt underneath. He had blue and light blue stripped pants, and dark gray and white loafers.

Current Civilian[]

After grooming, his hair is neat and tidy, and he had also shaved. He then wears a composer's attire, which is a velvet red white tie style suit, underneath is a pink dress shirt with a velvet red bow, punch colored vest, a purple (or yellow) rose on his left breast, light blue and blue (or just blue) striped dress pants, and dark and white loafers.

Personality[]

In the past, Sifelius was a talented composer and loved music, this was especially true when Irenja, the love of his life, joined him in his concerts, bringing out the best of him. Her death however, affected him severely and all the love he had for music turned into painful memories.

Before meeting Musa and the Winx, Sifelius was shrouded in his depression after the death of his wife. He refused contact with the outside world, locking himself up in his home, and would not speak to anyone, not even Solimante. Over the years, he grew grumpy and cranky, quick to anger, easily forcing anyone out who trespassed on his personal life. His, as he would describe it, "evil and old" appearance and personality was a way conceal his pain.

But, Musa did not give up even after he shouted at her and told her to scram. He realized he had gone to far and called her back, and spoke to her. It was awkward at first, considering it has been years since his last conversation with someone (and the fact that Musa was still a little angry) and eventually felt that he could trust Musa. He then spoke about his past. In a sense, it allowed him to relieve some of his pain and his only wish was to see his wife again.

Determined to help him, Musa and her friends found a way to allow Sifelius to see his wife again. When Musa informed him that it is possible, he could not contain his joy but was frantic about it because the mansion and himself was a mess. He then cleaned himself up, and returned to his former, lively and happy self. After seeing his wife again, he completely regained his former self, as he was very social, smiled a lot, and showed many emotions aside from anger.

After becoming very distraught as a result of Irenja's death, it can be assumed that he was loving and faithful to the person he loved.

Pre-Comics[]

Sifelius had a wonderful life, made a friend, married the woman he loved, and had a successful music career. He was famous and his concerts were always a success. He lived happily with his wife, Irenja who also joined him in his concerts. But she fell horribly ill and eventually passed. From then on, he would live heartbroken and depressed. Shutting the outside world, no friends, concerts, or new composition.

Season 3[]

After a long time, Sifelius opens up about his pain since his wife's passing.

Much to his dismay, his old friend would send over two young fairies to his doorstep. He tells them to leave until they mention Solimante's (an old friend of his) name. He complains about being in the sun, so he allows them inside. When he sits down, he demands an answer as to why they have come. The girl with pigtails speaks up. She carefully answers that she is looking for her father's birthday present and Solimante told her that he, Sifelius sells instruments. Annoyed at such a preposterous reason, he states he is selling nothing and demands they leave. The girls do as he requests but then, the girl looking for a gift recognizes a very rare instrument known as the archicembalo. This impresses Sifelius and when the girl explains that her father had always wanted one, he thinks about it and tells her to return tomorrow as he may have something for her.

The next day, much to his surprise, the girl returns. He offers old compositions as a way to rid some of his loneliness and sadness. The girl protests as they are precious because he used play them with his wife. He is shocked to hear that she knew his story and becomes angry, as she had a reopened a wound he tried to close off. He berates her, telling her leave. Though she is upset, she still drops some treats for him. When he sees them, he realized what he had done. He chases after and apologizes to her, and finally learns her name, Musa.

They sit quietly and awkwardly on a bench outside. Sifelius once again sincerely apologizes for his behavior. He also finally opens up about his pain and reveals his only wish is to see Irenja again, this is the only way he can move on. Musa all of a sudden stands up and excuses herself, but also assures him that it might be possible, much to his shock. The two part ways for now until a few days later. Sifelius receives shocking news: he will meet his wife again! He is elated but then starts panicking because of the state of his home. Musa starts helping and called the Specialists.

After signing the contract, Sifelius hands Musa the keys to his pavilion.

The next morning, Sifelius lets Sky and Timmy in who begin working right away. After some time, he tells the boys to take a break and offered some sandwiches. He had changed and groomed to the point that Musa almost did not recognize him. The Winx repair the house with magic and finally, it is time to for him to reunite with his wife. The spirit of Irenja is invoked alongside Daphne. He tells her how much he had missed her, she responses that she had always been near him. The two share a long awaited recital together, the beautiful music spreads throughout the town. But, all must come to end, Irenja has to leave but not before having Sifelius promise to never forget her and who he is. She reminds him, he still has things to do in the living world. After she leaves, Sifelius is overcome by a sense of longing but Musa comforts him, telling him his music was beautiful. He smiles once again and steps outside with them, but is met with an unexpected applause! People from all over could not resist the music and followed it here. With newfound purpose, Sifelius will begin offering music lessons to the inspiring youth. He also granted permission to use his pavilion for the Specialists to practice.

He is briefly mentioned in Issue 37: Together Again when Musa tells Riven that he has now offered the pavilion in the garden to Musa use as her own.

Since recovering from his ordeal, Sifelius has been busy with concerts and thus, does not come home often. His offer still stands, allowing Musa and others to play music in his pavilion. He and Musa meet in Issue 38: Musa's Enterprise to discuss these conditions. He will let them have the space for free but the other bills still stands. Musa then prepares a contract, which he signs and gives her the keys to the pavilion.

Season 4[]

In Issue 80: Old Doors New Mysteries he had received news that the property where the pavilion (the one had gifted to Musa as gratitude) stands will be torn down for a new road. He fought as hard as he could but it was futile. However, he did received a composition payment for what will be happening to his property. In addition, he had also been feeling ill and with what is happening, he decided to go away to heal. In preparation for the move, he was clearing his items when he found old documents pertaining to a property in the outskirts of Magix. Although, he could turn it into another home, he thought it would be better to give the property to Musa. So, he reached out to her and gave her the news, some of composition payment he received and the property documents, which indicated she is now the newest owner of the property. His story is then retold to Roxy, who had not joined the group at the time, by Bloom and Stella.

He is mentioned again by Bloom in Issue 81: The Flower of Truth, who was updating her diary about what has been happening to the property since he had given it Musa. Progress was going well and the new property is much larger. It contained an old kiln that was made to work again by Brandon and Helia, an attic that is large enough for dancing, a gym was being set, and many more.

Trivia[]

His name is close to the Finnish surname Sibelius, which was the surname of the famous Finnish composer, Jean Sibelius (1865-1957).
- And in 1993, a scorewriter software of the same name was developed.
