The Winx Club Reboot (or Winx Club - The Magic is Back[1]) is an upcoming CGI reboot animated fantasy series created by Iginio Straffi. It is serves as a reboot of the entire franchise and presents a changed animation style and character designs.

The reboot will be produced by Rainbow S.p.A., Rainbow CGI, and Hampa Animation Studio. It is slated to release in September 2025[2] and has 26 episodes.

Synopsis

A modern fantasy saga set in a vibrant world of magic, friendship and courage, Winx Club The Magic is Back follows the awesome adventures of Bloom, a teenage girl from Earth who discovers that she is a fairy with extraordinary powers. The new version is a coming-of-age story in which Bloom and her fairy friends discover how to become more powerful as they transform into super-heroines in order to save the magic dimension from the dark forces who want to control it.

Development Stages

Initially, on September 16, 2020, the Licensing Summit Online in Russia announced that Rainbow S.p.A. is working on Season 9 and it is scheduled to premiere in 2021-2022. It is also revealed that the season's format has been changed where it will be 52 episodes, 13-minutes of length each, instead of the usual "26 episodes, 22 minutes" format that have been used to for the past 208 episodes.[4]

On February 12, 2021, the Italian article, Imperoland revealed that the working title of the ninth season appears to be Winx Club Shorts, hinting the possible format change of the animated series.[5]

In May 2021, during the second day of the Digital Cartoon, Rainbow's new strategy was presented, featuring a photo of Flora from Season 9.

On September 8, 2021, WinxClubRus reveals a preview of the ninth season's poster from the Venice International Film Festival.[6][7]

At the Brand Licensing Europe event on November 17-19, 2021, new images of the ninth season's transformation and the girls’ civilian outfits were officially revealed.[8] In November itself, it was revealed the premiere of the new season will likely be in 2023.[9]

On January 27, 2022, an official image of Bloom's new Fairy Form was introduced online.

It was later revealed the premiere of the season would be pushed back to 2024 to celebrate the series' 20th year anniversary. Soon after, the ninth season was scraped in favor for the reboot.

On November 3, 2022, Iginio Straffi confirmed the upcoming CGI reboot and a live action movie on his Instagram.[10]

Straffi later revealed that the episode format has been reverted back to its original episode format 23x26 and that the premiere of the season would postponed until 2025 and it will dubbed in more than 40 languages.

The first official preview of the reboot was released on the 28th of April 2024 during Napoli Comicon.[11] Later, another variant for the same preview is uploaded onto the official channel and on social medias platforms.

On September 1, 2024, the official Winx Club Instagram and YouTube accounts posted a video of the work in progress of the reboot.[12]

On October 21, 2024, the official Winx Club Instagram and YouTube accounts posted a teaser trailer of the reboot.[13]
